CCR: Music Video!

1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

The final product used my conventions since R&B is the most common in my generation. I also chose the references for my conventions based on my own music taste so as expected. I also included some of the types of shots used in "Sober" like the zoom in and tracking shot. I feel like the conventions for the genre really represents and connects with the message of the songs. I also used costumes, props and sets in my music video to add the sense of adventure in it. My previous research was used to portray the message and show the different meanings each scene had by costumes, props and most importantly the camera angles to show a power struggle. The conventions also were used to demonstrate what most teenagers get themselves into while in a relationship that may be toxic but they have not yet learned that. Most are not always aware that it may have been toxic until it's over with. The props and shots really portrayed that message for this since we used a phone which is the most used in my generation and the shots reflected the feelings in each scene.

  1. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My music video captivates audiences by creating a relatable experience that transports viewers into the feeling of a toxic teen relationship. With visuals that paint a vivid picture, relatable timeline of lovers into enemies that tugs at the teen heartstrings, and  Frank Ocean's angelic voice that stays with you long after the video ends. I aim to involve and captivate the viewers in a way that is both friendly and engaging. I am  passionate about forging a deep connection with the audience, inviting them to join me on the musical roller coaster and making sure that every moment they spend with the video is a truly unforgettable experience. I would share my music video through young platforms. My music video needs to connect with a younger audience due to the possible misunderstanding from adults. I feel like teens would be the ones most understanding therefore, it would be posted on TikTok and Instagram. The way I would commercialize it would be posting a 15-second snippet of it in Reels and a TikTok so its able to catch the viewer interest so then, they can check it out on Youtube making the video gain views. If all is successful I think my video would have a High-chance of going viral for the right answers.

  1. How did your production skills develop throughout this project

My production skills have been developing since the moment the project was presented. Brainstorming the idea helped me with my creativity which was very enclosed before. When I had an idea on what my song could be, me and my group started coming up with ideas. This was challenging but, after this project I feel like I've gotten better at it and could probably do it faster next time. The research helped portray the view and pavement for the perfect final product which I usually do not use. Now, I've learned that previous research is not only very useful but can put a view to life which I will also use for the future. The storyboard was something newly introduced which helped develop the perfect plan for filming. This is something that i did not previously use so now, I want to introduce this into my other projects so It can be easier while filming. All of the blogs and putting everything together helped sort everything out step-by-step instead of doing everything in one day. My production skills developed by learning how to manage my time but also have everything planned out beforehand. This project taught me a lot of time management.

  1. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project

Technologies were integrated by filming and blogging. First, I choose my IPad to blog instead of a computer due to the easy transportation it provides me. Blogging can pretty much be done from anywhere but my preferred choices are my phone and my IPad. They're both easily transportable and can be done even if I'm not home, which is very important for me. A computer is way heavier and not necessarily available anywhere so my IPad and phone will always be my first choice. For my filming, me and my group chose to record on our phones. Phones were easier to use due to the lightweight of it and the better video-quality. This was chosen due to the low-quality that the provided cameras gave us. It was also easier to transport the videos to the editing software from our phones rather than a memory card from a camera. Now, this brings me into the chosen software. My group and I chose Cap-Cut due to it being easier to edit and manage our videos and put everything together. It was also really easy to figure out by Youtube videos which led us to choose this over any other program like Adobe photoshop that is very much complex compared to CapCut.
